Coach: Tom Menendez (17th year)
Class: C, Conference: MVC
Last year’s results: Girls: MVC champs, seventh at regionals, eighth at state. Boys: Not enough runners to field a scoring team.
Returning athletes: Girls: Amber Currie, Abbie Hunt, Kaitlin Hunt, Megan Knowles, Danielle Parker, Elliott Sharples, Bea Stewart, Emma Vierling and Moira Burgess. Boys: Kyle Gunnels.
Key newcomers: Girls: Maddie Amero, Joclyn Coffin, Chloe Dwinell, Lydia Roy. Boys: Joe Crocker, Adam Fortin, Jason Kulinski, Hayden Luce, Leo Wilson, Devon Poisson, Ben Story.
What to expect: The core group of the girls’ team’s returnees went out this summer and put in quality work and is ready to race. An influx of new runners has added further excitement to an already solid core of runners. Many runners have top-seven potential, but time will tell who rises to the top. Newcomers have inspired a sense of excitement and renewed purpose to the boys’ team. As the season progresses, the boys should evolve into their roles and help the Mustangs field a competitive team.
