New Auburn Seniors to meet

AUBURN — The New Auburn Senior Citizens will meet for a business meeting Monday, Sept. 11. The meeting and open bingo will begin at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served for $4. There will not be a meeting Monday, Sept. 4, due to Labor Day.

Membership dues for 2017 will be collected. Dues are expected to be paid on the first Monday of the month. Those who cannot pay at the meeting may send payment and a self-addressed stamped envelope to Helen Marsh, 32 Chris Ave., Sabattus, ME 04280.

The next dinner will be Lobster Day and will be served at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18. Dinner tickets must be purchased at the first Monday meet prior to the dinner date in order to know meal counts.

All seniors 60 and older are welcome to attend Off-Monday Bingo on Monday, Sept. 25. 

All functions are held at Sacred Heart Church. 

Watershed Protection Commission public meeting

AUBURN — The Lake Auburn Watershed Protection Commission will hold a public meeting to discuss recreational trail use at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at the West Auburn Congregational Church.

Lake Auburn is the only public drinking water supply for the Cities of Auburn and Lewiston. The lake Auburn Watershed Protection Commission controls 2,200 acres through direct ownership and conservation easements within the Lake Auburn Watershed.

The commission encourages responsible recreational opportunities on commission land. It seeks input from the public on suggestions for use of existing trails on commission property. 

Drumming group making a beat 

LEWISTON — The Hand Drumming Group plays from 1 to 3 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month, at Trinity Church, 247 Bates St. 

All levels and styles of drummers can play, and they can bring their own instrument or try one of the club’s drums. The cost to play is by donation. 

Auburn summer farmers market 

AUBURN — The city of Auburn has announced the Auburn Farmers Market series for the summer of 2017. The Market will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Oct. 3, in the Happy Days parking lot, 67 Mill St.

Parking for the farmers market will be located at Rolly’s Diner.

Food pantry seeks donations

AUBURN — The High Street Congregational Church Food Pantry has ongoing needs for the following items: peanut butter; dry cereal; baking items; crackers; toilet paper; and canned vegetables, soup, pasta, meats and fruit.

Auburn United Methodist Church collects items for the pantry. Donations may be brought to 439 Park Ave.

Lewiston Bridge Club to play 

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club plays at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave.

A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcomed.
