JAY — A Fayette man was cited Friday for failing to stop at a red light after a car he was driving collided with a flatbed truck at the intersection of routes 133 and 156 at Bean’s Corner, Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier said.

Brandon Chase, 19, of Fayette was driving a car eastbound on Depot Street, also known as Route 156,  and it collided a truck heading south on Route 133 driven by Colby Ryder, 56, of Wilton, Fournier said.

There is a stop sign and blinking red light for motorists traveling on Route 156.

Ryder was injured and was checked out by NorthStar EMS ambulance personnel at the scene, but he refused treatment, Fournier said.

Building materials that were on the back of Ryder’s truck scattered on a lawn of a residence and in the road, Police Chief Richard Caton IV said.

Both Ryder’s 1996 Chevrolet S10 flatbed truck and the 2006 Kia driven by Chase received front-end damage, Fournier said. The car is registered to Nicole Castonguay of Jay.

Fournier said he issued Chase a summons for failure to stop at a red light.

Police Chief Richard Caton IV assisted by Jay Fire Rescue Department directed traffic. Firefighters also cleaned up debris and fluids.
