SABATTUS — No one was injured in an early-morning fire Sunday that destroyed a mobile home on Begin Terrace. 

The fire was reported at 4:50 a.m., Sabattus Fire Chief Marc Veilleux said.

By the time responders arrived, the family was out of their home at 32 Begin Terrace, Veilleux said. They had been alerted by working fire alarms in the home, he said.

The fire was knocked down within an hour, using about 6,o00 gallons of water. 

The 14- by 70-foot mobile home was a total loss, but it was insured, according to Veilleux. The property owners were put in touch with the Red Cross.

The home was in a non-hydrant district and required mutual aid to provide water, he said.

Firefighters from Sabattus, Lewiston, Wales, Lisbon and Bowdoin responded to the scene.

The Sabattus Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
