TURNER — “Music for Mavis” Tuesdays at the Gazebo will host Pam Weeks and friends in the toe-tapping Acadian band T-Acadie, at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 5 The music may begin a little before 6:30 p.m., due to the advancing season.

Weeks, organizer and band leader, is a Turner favorite. She and her students can be heard on Tuesdays in the Leavitt Institute Building beside the gazebo, where she teaches mountain dulcimer, fiddle, viola, cello, guitar, sax, flute, piano, Celtic harp, and voice, as the music around the halls, filtering up through the library and out across the green. Weeks is an outstanding fiddler, Appalachian dulcimer player, vocalist and tune smith. She had performed across the country, has been a member of  numerous bands, and recorded her own music.

T-Acadie (TEE-ah-kah-DEE)  plays a variety of music including traditional French Canadian and New England dance tunes; Cajun waltzes, two-steps, Cajun blues and Zydeco tunes; old-time southern tunes and songs often sung a appella, in 3-part harmony; original tunes written by Weeks, which range from reels and jigs,  aires and waltzes.

In addition to Weeks, band members include Jim Joseph on button accordion, 5-string banjo, mandolin, fiddle, jaw harp, percussion, and vocals, and Bill Olson on guitar, bass, vocals and calling.

Following this concert, there is one concert remaining in the 2017 gazebo season.
