LEWISTON — Rosalie Ann (Barry) Cyr, 84, a resident of Monmouth, passed away, Saturday, Sept. 2, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born December 29, 1932, in Rumford, the daughter of Herbert Barry and Helen Mary (LeBlanc) Barry. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy in Portland and St. Mary’s School of Nursing. On September 5, 1953 she married Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Cyr. They made their home and raised their four sons in Monmouth.

Rosalie worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital where she met cared for her future husband, Larry and later worked as a school nurse for many years in Monmouth, Wales and Oak Hill High School being fondly remembered by many. She enjoyed traveling and her dogs, Maggie and Dixie. She and Larry wintered in Port Charlotte, Fla., for 35 years.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence “Larry” Cyr of Monmouth; sons, Michael Cyr and wife Karen of Monmouth, John Cyr and wife Judy of Monmouth, James Cyr of Westbrook, and L. Joey Cyr and wife Angela of Monmouth, grandchildren, Andrew Cyr and wife Michelle, Matthew Cyr and wife Melissa, Corey Cyr and wife Amy, Shawn, Emily, Elizabeth, Nicholas and Heather Cyr, great-grandchildren, Sarah Truman, Olivia, Alexandria, Quinn, Connor, Brynn and Nova Cyr. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Delma Barry Knight, Margaret Barry Tasker, and Rita Barry Groteluchen; brothers, H. Roscoe Barry, Daniel, Donald and Leo Barry; and her daughter-in-law, Margaret Kimball Cyr.

The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and support staff in the ICU at Central Maine Medical Center. All were supportive, kind and caring to the family while giving Rosalie excellent care.
