Foundation accepting grant requests

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Auburn Children’s Foundation is now accepting grant request applications for the current 2017 fiscal year.

For close to 40 years, the foundation has awarded grants annually to individuals and organizations whose programs directly benefit children in the Lewiston-Auburn community.

Previous grant recipients include Trinity Jubilee Center’s diaper program, Lewiston High School’s Store Next Door project, New Beginnings’ Food Pantry and the SHARE Center for a die-cut machine.

Application may be submitted by Oct. 20 to the Lewiston Auburn Children’s Foundation, P.O. Box 7155, Lewiston, ME 04243-7155.

Church seeks Christmas fair crafters

LISBON — Holy Trinity Catholic Church is seeking vendors to sell Christmas crafts during its Christmas fair on Nov. 18.

At the fair, there will be food for purchase and raffles and lots of fun for all.

The church also seeks donations of goods and food and volunteers.

First Auburn Seniors to meet

AUBURN — The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at the new Auburn Senior Center building at Pettingill Park.

The board meeting will be at 10 a.m. Those attending should bring a bag lunch and something for a basket auction.

There were 48 members present at the last meeting. Attendance winners were Bob Berry and Anita St. Germain; pot of gold, Charlotte Dyer, Bob Daigle and Cindy Larrabee; and, 50-50, Bob Bell, Jolene Bell and Leroy Walker.

OES Landmarks and Obligation

WALES — Lakeside Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, will celebrate its Landmarks and Obligation on Tuesday, Sept. 12. 

The Associate Conductress will give her charge, the Landmarks will be read, and the Obligation will be led by the Worthy Patron.

At the last meeting, the District Deputy Grand Matron awarded the Traveling Abby Traveling Emblem to Pine Cone Chapter No. 26 of Auburn.

On Sept. 14, the chapter is invited to share in the ESTARL supper and bring salads.

The Ladies will be in colored gowns for the meeting and the Gentlemen in tuxedos or dark suits. All members and Eastern Star visitors are welcome.

Golden Age Club to meet

AUBURN — The IHM Golden Age Club will meet Tuesday, Sept. 12, at Sacred Heart Church.

The social hour will be from 11 a.m. to noon, and game time will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Lunch will be potluck.

Reservations are required. New members and guests are always welcome.

Board members should attend a meeting at 10:45 a.m.
