Pine Cone Chapter, OES, to meet

AUBURN — Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14, at the Masonic Hall, 1021 Turner, St.

The chapter will honor the Station of Chaplain. Vincent Noonan, Grand Chaplain, has been invited.

The meeting will be preceded by an Eastern Star Training Award for religious leadership. There will be a supper at 6 p.m. for a donation of $3.

District 4 chapters participating are Pioneer Chapter 11, Lakeside Chapter 60 and Pine Cone Chapter 26. All donations will go to the ESTARL Program.

Pine Cone has the traveling mascot for District 4. All Eastern Star members are welcome.

Medicare Basics seminars offered

LEWISTON — SeniorsPlus is offering Medicare seminars to teach the basics and timelines of this complex system — when to sign up, various options and ways to save money.

Medicare Basics will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at 8 Falcon Road

Lewiston Farmers Market open Sundays 

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Farmers Market at Bates Mill is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays through mid-October at the municipal parking lot on the corner of Lincoln and Main streets.

Market customers can purchase goods using cash, credit, debit, SNAP and WIC. Loyal customers will have the opportunity to receive a gift certificate after five visits to the market with the Market Rewards Program. Seniors 62 and older will receive a gift certificate to the market on the first Sunday of the month with the Seniors Day program.

AUBURN — The Pickwick Club, Maine’s Charles Dickens and other Victorians reading and discussion group, will meet from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Auburn Library.

Center seeks volunteer companions

LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women is seeking volunteer applicants for companions.

The companion role requires women to have a professional background in social work, teaching, nursing, chaplaincy or other related fields, and companions work with local women. The commitment is a half-day weekly.
