The Auburn and Lewiston Fire departments will hold ceremonies Monday, Sept. 11, in remembrance of lives lost during attacks at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in 2001.

The Auburn Fire Department will host its annual 9/11 ceremony and a blood drive. It will begin at 8 a.m. at Central Station, 550 Minot Ave., and will feature coffee, doughnuts and water on the main floor of the station.

In Lewiston, the Fire Department will host a ceremony starting at 9:30 a.m. at Central Fire Station, 2 College St. The event will begin with a wreath presentation by members of LFD followed by a welcome from Chief Brian Stockdale.

At 9:58 a.m., there will be a moment of silence until 9:59 a.m., marking the time of the South Tower collapse.

Lewiston Mayor Robert Macdonald is also scheduled to make remarks, as are representatives of U.S. Sen. Sen. Susan Collins and U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin.

The Firefighter’s Prayer will be offered by LFD Chaplain John Robbins.

The community is invited to attend.
