HANOVER — An Albany Township woman was seriously injured Friday after a spider on her car’s windshield distracted her and she veered off Route 2, according Deputy James McLamb of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department.

Amanda Hart, 32, was flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. A nursing supervisor said Friday evening there was no information on her.

Med-Care paramedic Alex Johnson said Hart suffered trauma to her chest, pelvis, hips and abdomen.

“She was lucky she was wearing a seat belt,” McLamb said.

Hart’s car went off the road, over an embankment and struck a knoll. She told members of the Rumford Fire Department that a spider on her windshield distracted her, causing her to veer off the road, McLamb said.

Chief Dean Milligan of Med-Care said Hart was quickly removed from the car.

The accident occurred around 8:45 a.m., Johnson said.
