CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – Gas prices in northern New England are coming down in northern New England, although it may still be some time before drivers see pre-hurricane prices.

The latest survey from GasBuddy shows average retail gasoline prices in Maine fell 10 cents per gallon in last week, averaging $2.56 on Sunday. In New Hampshire, the price was $2.60 per gallon, down 4.9 cents from the previous week. The price in Vermont was down 4.2 cents in the past week, to 2.67 per gallon.

The national average has fallen 5.5 cents in the last week to $2.55 per gallon. That’s 19.6 cents higher than a month ago and 34.74 cents higher than a year ago.

Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy, says it may take weeks or months to see gas inventories recover fully from the hurricanes.
