BETHEL — Team Hailey Hugs is kicking off their latest fund raising campaign — golden license plates. In an effort to raise $200,000 for the Maine Children Cancer Program, the Bethel-based non-profit is looking for at least 2,000 people to sign up.

The plates will be gold, with “Childhood Cancer Awareness” and “HaileyHugs.org” printed on them, with a cancer awareness ribbon in the state of Maine, and butterflies in honor of Hailey Steward, the driving force behind Team Hailey Hugs.

Once the license plate is established, those who signed up will receive a certificate in the mail to bring to their local BMV office to exchange for their specialty plate.

The $35 fee covers the plate purchase, production costs, and a $10 donation to Team Hailey Hugs. Those with vanity plates can keep their current number/phrase, and the fee to renew each year will be $15.

FMI, sign up: haileyhugs.org.

Team Hailey Hugs is seeking 2,000 Mainers to use this gold license plate. Proceeds will benefit the Maine Children Cancer Program.
