Smokin’ Dave’s BBQ, a South Paris restaurant, is planning to move to 230 Main St. in Norway, formally Economy Auto Sales. The Planning Board unanimously voted Thursday to approve a change-of-use permit.

NORWAY — The Planning Board has approved a change-of-use permit for a South Paris restaurant looking to move to a former used-car property on Main Street.

Marcia Nelson, who co-owns Smokin’ Dave’s BBQ with her husband, David, said that in order to move the restaurant from 3 Nichol St. in South Paris to 230 Main St. in Norway, a location that previously housed Economy Auto Sales, she and her husband would have to apply for a change-of-use permit.

David Nelson, who attended Thursday’s meeting, said he anticipated there being enough seating for 48 to 55 people.

“We can fit 12 to 14 tables in that area, and one of the rooms has pocket doors, which we’d use as a private banquet-hall-style room,” Nelson said.

He added that he was hoping to add seating on the porch that extends from the building toward the parking lot, and “maybe a small outside deck that would be accessible from the back of the building.””

The Nelsons have not announced when the move will take place.
