Farmington Contradance starts Oct. 14

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Contradance will start again on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Farmington Grange, 124 Bridge St.

There will be a Family Dance from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. followed by pot luck snacks from 7:30 to 8 p.m. Admission for children and adults is $2.

The Regular Contradance goes from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults (minus $2 for those at the Family Dance) and $5 for students.

Velocipede will be the band and Cynthia Phinney will be the caller. Beginners are welcome. No partner is necessary.

Finnish-American Heritage Society meeting

WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society will hold its monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at 8 Maple St.

Following a short business meeting, the afternoon will feature a musical program presented by accordionist Bernie Nowack.

The meeting is open to the public. 

Elks lodge to host Basket Beano

FARMINGTON — Basket Beano will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Farmington Elks Lodge, 120 School St.

Walk for Heat Oct. 15

INDUSTRY — Shorey Chapel willl host the second annual Jane Dean Memorial Walk for Heat at noon on Sunday, Oct. 15.

The event will be held rain or shine. Water will be provided.

The walk will be up to 3 miles down Shadagee Road, starting at the Industry Town Parking Lot across from Dovey’s Kitchen at Allens Mills, and ending there with refreshments.

Donations are welcome. Proceeds will benefit fuel for Shorey Chapel and the ECU Heat Fund.

Mahoosuc Land Trust annual meeting

BETHEL — Mahoosuc Land Trust will have its annual meeting Sunday, Oct. 15, in Ordway Hall at Gould Academy. 

A silent auction will start at 5:45 p.m., and the meeting will be at 7 p.m. 

Dr. Cameron Wake of the University of New Hampshire will be the speaker.

Snowmobilers to resume meetings 

JAY — The Andy Valley Riders Snowmobile Club will meet at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the clubhouse from October to April.
