LEWISTON — The Harward Center for Community Partnerships at Bates College has announced a new presentation series, “Theory into Practice,” designed to help audience members understand important public policy issues of the day.

Presentations will feature local and statewide experts and will include information relevant to contemporary public policy debates and legislation.

Information about the three programs scheduled for fall 2017 is listed below. All programs are free and open to the public. They will each take place on the Bates College campus in Pettengill Hall Room G-52.

Spotlight on Poverty: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12. Featuring staff and guests from Maine Equal Justice Partners.

Spotlight on Public Health: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25. Featuring Erin Guay, executive director of Healthy Androscoggin, and Hilary Schneider, Maine government relations director.

Spotlight on the Environment: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1: Featuring Beth Ahearn, political director, Maine Conservation Voters, and Kristen Jackson, federal outreach coordinator for the Natural Resources Council of Maine.

The Theory into Practice series is designed to help connect the world of ideas to public policy issues occurring at the local, state and federal levels. No reservations are required.
