FARMINGTON — A medical building was damaged Monday afternoon when a driver with a learner’s permit stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake, and the SUV hit the building, Deputy Police Chief Shane Cote said.

Amanda Foster, 24, of Skowhegan who had a learner’s permit, was driving with the owner of a 2014 Nissan SUV, Holly Oliver, 24, of Mercer near Narrow Gauge Square, off Front Street.

When Foster accidentally hit the gas, the vehicle hit the Western Mountain Chiropractic building, 116 Narrow Gauge Square, at the wall closest to a movie theater, Cote said.

Neither Foster nor Oliver was injured.

The vehicle damaged the exterior wall and interior wall between two examining rooms, Cote said.
