Josh Berry, executive chef at UNION Restaurant in Portland, gives Aydin Lanois, 9, a hand while making apple crisps with Lewiston 21st Century students at Geiger Elementary School on Friday. Berry and executive sous chef Matt Duley worked with students during their Friday Culinary Club. Each student made three apple crisps: two to bake at home and one to give to the other half of their after-school program students who chose to do yoga rather than cooking. “Encouraging kids to cook at home is important,” Berry said. Shyanne Turner, 11, is at left and Kadra Soubane, 10, is at right.
