Society to hear from UMF student
FARMINGTON — The Farmington Historical Society will meet Monday, Oct. 23, at the North Church, 118 High St.
A potluck supper will be served at 6 p.m. with a meeting to follow.
A program, “History of Abbott School,” will be presented by Layne Nason, University of Maine Farmington student and FHS intern.
Everyone is welcome.
Extension Homemakers to meet
CHESTERVILLE — The North Chesterville Extension Homemakers will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the Chesterville Town Office.
This meeting on Wednesday instead of Tuesday due to the Chesterville Town Office being used for the Region 9 budget voting on the Homemakers’ regular meeting day.
The Homemakers will make the Rotary Christmas tree ornaments with pine cones that will be auctioned at the Festival of Trees in December for charity.
Those attending should bring a glue gun and scissors.
Meetings are free and open to the public.

Cival War presentation at Society
OXFORD — The Oxford Historical Society/Kay House Museum will hold its next monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 73 Pleasant St., followed by a presentation by the Society’s treasurer, John Crumpton at 6:30 p.m.
Crumpton will speak on the Civil War, “Part of the story of the Battle of Vicksburg.”
The public is invited, and light snacks will be provided. New Members may join the Society for $5 per year or $100 for a lifetime membership.
