AUBURN — Jeannette L. Doucette, 93, formerly of Hazelhurst Street in Auburn, died peacefully, Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Clover Manor. She was born in Lewiston on Dec. 12, 1923, a daughter of the late Ferdinand and Alice (Blanchette) Lacombe. She was educated in local schools and then went on to work in local shoe shops in the area.
Jeannette married George Doucette on Nov. 27, 1947. Together they settled in Auburn to raise their three children. He predeceased her on Aug. 8, 2007.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Golden Age Club and the Auburn Senior Citizens. She loved to be social and volunteered for many hours at Clover Manor when she first moved there. She was unofficially their “Social Director.” She enjoyed playing bingo, listening to music and singing opera. She also enjoyed following her beloved Red Sox. She was happiest when she was around small children; she loved holding them and keeping them company.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jacqueline Jalbert and her companion, Albert Wells of Sabattus and Monique Ducharme of Lewiston; a son, Raymond Doucette of Auburn; her two sisters, Therese Turgeon of Auburn and Florence Lacombe of Auburn; a brother, Bert Lacombe and wife, Del of Georgia; five grandchildren, Nathan, Keith, Jason, Chris and Heather; and many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Willie, Alphee, Roger and Robert; a sister, Antoinette; a son-in-law, Richard Ducharme; brother-in-law, Gerard Turgeon; and sisters-in-law, Rolande, Obeline and Alice.
