LEWISTON — The Lewiston Farmers Market will be open every Sunday for the 2017-2018 winter season, Oct. 22 through Feb. 25, rather than every other Sunday. The market will be held at the YWCA at 130 East Ave. Hours of operation will be 10 a.m. to noon.

The YWCA offers plenty of parking, a handicapped-accessible entrance, a large accommodating and sunny event space, as well as opportunities to engage with additional programs.

Much like the summer market, the winter market offers a festive and family-friendly atmosphere and a range of vendors offering seasonal fruits and vegetables, meats, dairy products, fresh bread, baked goods, prepared meals, fiber arts, hand-crafted soaps, crafts and more.

In partnership with the YWCA the market vendors will be hosting a Holiday Fair and Farmers Market on Sunday, Nov. 19, for most of the day. More details on the event to come as the date approaches.

The Lewiston Farmers Market accepts cash, check credit card, debit and SNAP (food stamps). The market will be continuing the statewide Maine Harvest Bucks program which provides SNAP beneficiaries with bonus vouchers to purchase more fresh fruits and vegetables.

Additional programs include the Market Rewards program which rewards regular customers for their loyalty and the Seniors and Veterans Day program which provides seniors older than 62 and veterans with gift certificates to the market the first Sunday market of every month.

The Lewiston Farmers Market is sponsored by St. Mary’s Nutrition Center as a part of the ongoing and community-wide food access work.
