WATERVILLE — Monmouth netted a goal in each half and fired an onslaught of shots at Oak Hill on Wednesday on its way to a 2-0 win in the MVC girls’ title game at Thomas College.

Tia Day started the scoring for the Mustangs (13-1) on a nice pass across the field from Audrey Fletcher midway through the opening frame.

The score remained 1-0 through the half. Emily Grandahl doubled the Monmouth lead over the Raiders (13-1) in the second half on a 20-yard strike after another nifty feed from Fletcher.

Destiny Clough turned back five shots to earn the shutout victory for the Mustangs. Anna Dodge was spectacular between the pipes for the Raiders, smothering 15 Monmouth shots.

Monmouth begins defense of its No. 1 seed in Class C South next week, while Oak Hill is the No. 2 seed in the Class B South bracket.
