BUCKFIELD — The Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce’s membership committee announces Tilton’s Market of Buckfield as the September Business of the Month.
The market is known for its butcher shop with hand cut-to-order meats. The market also carries an assortment of grocery items and baked goods, including homemade whoopie pies.
Sandra Fickett, a former school teacher, took over the business in 2014 and has increased the number of staff as well as the products offered. More than 20 people work at the market and most live in the surrounding towns of Buckfield, Sumner and Hartford. Fickett also supports the local schools and sports programs, and several other local nonprofit organizations.
Each month, the chamber will make a charitable donation on behalf of the Business of the Month to the Feeding Oxford Hills initiative or Rightstart’s Christmas for Kids and Teens programs. The September donation of $250 will be given to Rightstart for their Christmas programs.
