BUCKFIELD — A man was killed early Friday night when his Jeep rolled at least once near the corner of Routes 117 and 124.
LifeFlight was called to the area following the 6:30 p.m. wreck but was then canceled.
Police said the man was the only occupant inside the Jeep when he crashed.
Oxford County Sheriff’s officials were investigating along with the Maine State Police reconstruction team.
Police said the identity of the victim was being withheld until his family is notified.
Route 124 is also known as Roundabout Road. It’s a four-way intersection surrounded by fields and is about 2 miles from the area considered Buckfield’s downtown.
A section of Route 117 was closed for several hours Friday night while the investigation was being conducted.
The area where the Friday night crash was reported has been the scene of serious wrecks in the past, including at least one fatality.
