Daughters to install officers
JAY — Daughters of Isabella Circle 677, St. Rose of Lima Church, will hold installation of new officers at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at St. Rose Church, followed by a reception at the parish hall.
Anyone bringing refreshments is asked to bring them to the hall before the installation, involving two circles.
Members voted to make a basket for the St. Rose Christmas fair at the October meeting. The theme will be kitchen items. Anointing of the sick will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at St. Rose Church, with a supper following at the parish hall. There will also be a Chinese auction and anyone wishing to donate items can bring them to the church or hall the night of the supper.
Get-well cards were sent to Irene Castonguay and a thinking-of-you card was sent to Florence Cronkite.
Lifetree Cafe showing racism film
LEWISTON — An exclusive filmed interview with musician and author Daryl Davis will be screened at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Lifetree Cafe, 1919 Lisbon Road
“I wanted to question those people who wanted to hurt me or hang me,” Davis said. “I needed to get direct answers about why they could hate me when they didn’t even know me.”
During the program, “The Black and White Truth About Racism: Will We Ever Live in a Colorblind World?,” participants will have the opportunity to discuss their own experiences with prejudice or racism.
Admission to the 60-minute event is free.

Fall Festival at Baptist church
FARMINGTON — Farmington Baptist Church’s annual Fall Festival will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.
This is a family event for all ages. There will be games, candy and popcorn. Non-scary costumes are welcome.
