Library audience to see Newfoundland

NORWAY — Norway Memorial Library will host Doris Ray at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at 258 Main St. when she will discuss “Finding Newfoundland.”

Ray spent most of July in the Canadian province, “as far away from Disneyland as you can get.” She will take the audience to “The Rock,” to learn about its history, landscape, people and unforgettable places. They will hear about Newfoundland goodies, pick up new words and take home a list of movies, books, websites and recipes.

Ray, Maine born and bred, is a retired educator who calls Oxford Hills home. She is a mother of two, with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also a reader, a traveler and a Norway Memorial Library Friends board member.

The program is free and open to the public.

NEW SHARON — Jim Ditzler Memorial Library will host Bee a Reader! Story Hour from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays, Nov. 2 and 16.

Future dates include Dec. 7 and 21; Jan. 4 and 18, 2018; Feb. 1 and 15; March 1, 15 and 29; April 12 and 26; and May 10 and 24.

Seniors plan Christmas party

PERU — The Rumford Seniors will have a Christmas party on Friday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the American Legion.

This is a turkey dinner with all the fixings. Entertainment will be provided by Noel Palmer.

The price is $10 for members and $13 for nonmembers. Sign-up is required by Friday, Nov. 12. All seniors are welcome.
