DEAR SUN SPOTS: The First Universalist Church of West Paris Kid’s Korner collects and distributes new and gently used clothing and other supplies, free of charge. Come to the First Universalist Church of West Paris, 208 Main St., the first and third weekends of each month: Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kid’s Korner will be open on Nov. 4 and 5, and Nov. 18 and 19.

In addition to infant and toddler clothes, winter clothing is also needed for older children, including larger size winter coats, hats and mittens, size 3 to teens. We can use boys’ pants sizes 2 through 8 and toddlers’ and boys’ sizes 10 and up. Girls’ pants, same sizes, are also needed, as are winter boots in all sizes for girls and boys. For more information about the program or to volunteer, please contact Donna Marshall, 515-0595, or email donnarae.marshall59@gmail.com .

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The annual YWCA Christmas Fair is back on Sunday, Nov. 19! This year we’ll have a full breakfast with Santa, and families will be able to take pictures with Kris Kringle himself at no cost. Breakfast is $7 for adults, $5 for children or $17 for families. This year the Christmas Fair will take place during the Lewiston Winter Farmers’ Market and will feature a rummage sale, silent auction, a free craft table for kids and holiday vendors.

The YWCA is in search of new or gently-used donations for the rummage sale, including holiday and home decor, jewelry, cookware and glassware. We do not accept clothing, shoes or electronics. The YWCA is also seeking contributions to the silent auction from businesses and artists. For more information call the YWCA at 207-795-4050.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m looking for the names and dates of any organizations, churches or sports/gun clubs planning wild game suppers the public can attend. I was fortunate enough to attend one a couple years ago and it was delicious. Thank you and your readers for any help you can provide.

— Virginia, South Paris

ANSWER: Listings of community meals appear in the Sun Journal Community News on Fridays and in the Check it Out calendar every Monday, so keep your eyes peeled for game suppers.

Readers, if you know of any wild game suppers near where Virginia lives, please send Sun Spots a note! Virginia, another suggestion would be to contact your local grange hall or community center to see if they have anything planned.

This is a great opportunity for me to mention “The Maine Way,” a wild game cookbook originally published by the Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife in 1978. You can still find the book, a collection of fish and game recipes from the spouses and friends of department members written by local authors Judy Marsh and Carole Dyer on Amazon. It’s well worth getting if you have access to wild game.
