MECHANIC FALLS — Residents voted 458–279 on Tuesday to buy a building at 22 Pleasant St., renovate it and relocate the Police Department, Town Office and library there.
The vote authorizes the town to obtain a bond for $500,000 to pay for the purchase and relocation effort. It will be combined with an municipal loan of $224,500 to total $724,500, plus interest.
The building was previously a medical office and is being sold for nearly half of its value, according to town officials.
