The annual Veterans Day program at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School on Friday brought out a large crowd of veterans from local posts, the Maine Veterans’ Home in Paris, their families, friends, and local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. The program, under the direction of Linda Jack, included the acknowledgement of each branch of military service, the folding of the American flag by members of the Oxford fire and police departments, a moving speech by state Sen. Jim Hamper  and the traditional setting of a table in honor of  prisoners of war and missing comrades. The POW/MIA table was decorated symbolically by Randy Jack, Anderson Staples Post 112 commander, above, to remind others of the sacrifice. The single red rose signifies the veterans’ families and loved ones. Music was provided by the school band under the direction of Kyle Jordan. (Leslie H. Dixon/Advertiser Democrat)
