SCARBOROUGH — Jarett Flaker jetted 73 yards for a touchdown on the third play of the Class A South football regional title game as top-seeded Scarborough High cruised to a 49-7 win over Thornton Academy on Friday night.

Scarborough (9-1) rushed for 260 yards in the first half while building a 28-0 lead. Owen Garrard pounded for 116 yards and a 34-yard touchdown. Flaker had 100 yards in the first half, adding a 17-yard score just before halftime. Cody Dudley also scored on a 13-yard reverse.

Scarborough will play in the Class A state championship game for the first time next Saturday at Fitzpatrick Stadium against North champ Windham (7-4). Scarborough beat Windham, 66-7, in the regular season.

Thornton finished 8-2. Thornton started Kobe Gaudette at quarterback for a second straight game. Will Mitchell, the regular-season starter, was not in uniform.

Scarborough pushed the lead to 49-0 before Grant Dow scored a late touchdown for Thornton.
