RUMFORD — Robert G. Folland, 73, died at his residence in Rumford, Tuesday, Nov. 28, with his loving family by his side following a short illness.

Bob was born in Rumford on Oct. 28, 1944, the son of William and Pauline (West) Folland, and graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1963. He served with the U. S. Army from 1966 to 1968.

Bob worked at Davis Florist and also at Al’s Sunoco, and then he worked as a master electrician on No. 15 paper machine at the Rumford paper mill for over 40 years.

Bob was a member of the Rumford American Legion Post. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his yard and always had time for his neighbors and friends. He dearly loved his family and grandchildren. Bob enjoyed old cars and a few years ago purchased a restored 1929 Ford Model A.

He was married in Rumford on Nov. 19, 1966, to Sharon McDonald, who survives, of Rumford. Other survivors include his daughter, Kelly Volkernick and husband, Jeremy of Rumford; his son, Mark Folland of East Andover; grandsons, Colby and Trevor Volkernick of Rumford; several nieces and nephews; a brother, William Folland and wife, Jane of Old Lyme, Conn.; sisters, Rachel Auger and husband, Roger of Kennebunk, and Amelia Cormier of Bangor; sister-in-law, Joanne Richard and husband, Fern of Lewiston; brother-in-law, Robert McDonald and wife, Lane of Rumford; and was predeceased by his parents; and stepmother, Ella Folland.

The family would like to thank the ICU at CMMC and staff in Lewiston for the excellent care given to Bob.
