PORTLAND — The Cathedral of St. Luke at 143 State St. is the setting for both afternoon and evening performances of “Christmas with Renaissance Voices.”

The 21-voice a cappella ensemble, under the direction of Harold Stover, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17.

This year’s holiday concert features music from the 10th to the 21st centuries. The group is committed to new music and compositions by women. Featured on the program are works by Orlando di Lasso, Tomas Luis de Victoria, Josef Rheinberger, Hieronymus Praetorius, Sally Herman, David Jepson and others. The program is rounded out by a few carols and seasonal readings by the singers.

The ensemble has been performing since 1994 and has sung live on Maine Public Radio. Stover, internationally known organist and distinguished composer, has led the group since 2001.

Admission at the door is $20, seniors $15, and students $10. Discount tickets for $15 can be purchased through Friday, Dec. 15, at www.renaissancevoices.net, at Starbird Music and Longfellow Books in Portland, or at The Book Review in Falmouth.
