LISBON — Councilors re-elected Allen Ward as chairman and Chris Brunelle as vice chairman during Tuesday night’s town council meeting.

Town Clerk Twila Lycette swore in newly elected officials Fern Larochelle and Ross Cunningham. Larochelle joins the Town Council and Cunningham joins the school committee.

The council revised the attendance policy in their working rules. If a councilor misses three consecutive meetings with unexcused absences, then the council will meet and vote to take action to remove the member from office.

Councilor Kris Crawford also suggested adding a policy on excused absences to the working rules.

“I think if you have excused absences they should be limited, because if you’re elected to this position you should be there,” Crawford said.

Councilors agreed to limit excused absences to seven over a one-year session.

“There was only one occasion over the last year where one person missed three meetings,” Ward said. “And those were excused.”

Councilors also reviewed their achievements throughout the past year, which included:

• Securing $1.5 million for road infrastructure;

• Holding multiple workshop and budget meetings with department heads; and

• Revising the fund balance policy to maintain an unassigned general fund balance of no less than 12 percent and no more than 16 percent of the current fiscal year budget.

The next council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Lisbon Town Office.
