This will be a season of change for Edward Little. It’s almost impossible for it not to be.

It starts at the top, with coach Chris Cifelli taking over for Craig Jipson, who helmed the Red Eddies program for 12 seasons, including last year when they reached the regional semifinals.

Also gone, due to graduation, are 6-foot-1 post Jordyn Reynolds, who is now a standout at CMCC, and defensive ace Kaylee Jipson. Reynolds averaged 14.2 points and 11 rebounds per game and was the 2016-17 Sun Journal All-Region MVP, Class AA North player of the year and a Miss Maine Basketball semifinalist.

Other than that, though, just about everyone else is back for Edward Little.

And while their size won’t be quite the same, the Red Eddies have an abundance of speed that they aim to take advantage of.

Instead of forcing teams to grind out possessions, they want them to take quick shots.

Offensively, EL wants to be more aggressive and play at a faster pace.

“Constantly be on attack ourselves so we’re trying to keep our opponents on their heels as much as possible,” Cifelli said.

Senior guard Piper Norcross and juniors Jade Perry and Grace Fontaine were consistently in the starting rotation last year, and sophomore Chantelle Ouellette showed some scoring punch off the bench.

The Red Eddies have also added Hannah Chaput, who transferred from Lewiston, where she was a rotation player as a freshman in 2016-17.

“She and Grace Fontaine really give us a one-two punch of speed and outside shooting, so they’re very tough matchups for teams,” Cifelli said.
