PARIS — Hannah Chaput led a high-flying Edward Little offense with 22 points Friday to pace the Red Eddies to a 49-42 season-opening win over Oxford Hills. Chaput’s total included three from beyond the arc as the visitors held off a late charge from the Vikings (0-1).

Jade Perry hit for 10 points for the Red Eddies (1-0), who maintained their seven-point halftime cushion through an Oxford Hills comeback attempt in the fourth frame.

Julia Colby led all players with 24 points for the Vikings, including three 3-pointers.

Valley 28, Buckfield 16

BINGHAM — Jillian Miller and Kennedy Savoy each scored eight points to lead the Cavaliers to the East/West Conference victory

Kendra Sweet added seven points for Valley (1-0).

Poland 66, Fryeburg 25

POLAND — Nathalie Theriault had a game-high 22 points to lead Poland to a 66-25 victory over Fryeburg in a girls’ WMC basketball contest.

Jess Seeley chipped in with 14 points for the Knights (1-0).

Sierra Lyman and Kaylee Emery each had six points to lead the Raiders (0-1).

St. Dom’s 48, Traip 45

AUBURN — Caroline Gastonguay landed five field goals for 15 points as St. Dom’s bounced Traip 48-45 in girls’ basketball action Friday afternoon.

The Saints (1-0) led 27-21 at the midpoint. Becca Zimmerman collected three treys and a pair of free throws for 11 points for St. Dom’s.

Cassidy Delano registered a game-high 18 points on nine field goals for the Rangers (0-1) in the losing effort.

Winthrop 53, Lisbon 26

LISBON — Aaliyah WilsonFalcone supplied a game-high 15 points as Winthrop raced past Lisbon 53-26 in girls’ basketball action Friday evening.

Jillian Schmeizer also scored in the double digits for the Ramblers (1-0) with 13 points. Wintrhop went on a fourth quarter tear with a 17-3 run.

Charlee Cox led the Greyhounds (0-1) with nine points in the losing effort.

Boys’ basketball

Mt. Ararat 74, Leavitt 50

TURNER — Senior guard Tanner Greenleaf tossed a game-high 17 points to lead Mt. Ararat to a 74-50 victory over Leavitt in boys’ basektball action Friday afternoon.

The Eagles (1-0) screamed ahead in the fourth quarter with a 24-9 run. Austin Damon contributed 13 points, while Mt. Ararat posted 12 three pointers in the contest.

Freshman guard Wyatt Hathaway led the Hornet (0-1) offense with 12 points on three field goals, including a three pointer, three free throws, six assists and three steals in the losing effort.

Skowhegan 70, Mt. Blue 37

FARMINGTON — Junior forward Marcus Christopher drained a game-leading 32 points to power Skowhegan to a 70-37 victory over Mt. Blue in boys’ basketball action Friday afternoon.

The Indians (1-0) took a 17-7 edge in first half rebounds, including a 10-3 margin on the offensive glass. Senior Cam Barnes chipped in with 12 points for Skowhegan.

Senior guard Marshall Doyon led the Cougars (0-1) with 14 points, while James Anderson added 13 points on five field goals, including three from beyond the arc in the losing effort.

Monmouth 60, Oak Hill 56 OT

WALES — Junior guard Gabe Martin tagged a team-leading 21 points as Monmouth edged Oak Hill 60-56 in overtime in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Mustangs (1-0) lead 23-22 at the half. Sophomore Evan Burnell added 11 points on four field goals and three free throws for Monmouth.

Senior forward Darryn Bailey posted a game-high 22 points on nine field goals and four free throws for the Raiders (0-1). Oak Hill missed three foul shots in the overtime frame to surrender the season-opener.

Winthrop 70, Lisbon 43

WINTHROP — Cam Wood poured in a team-leading 20 points as Winthrop cruised to a 70-43 victory over Lisbon in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Ramblers (1-0) turned up the heat in the third quarter with a 32-13 run. Jared McLaughlin bagged another 13 points for Winthrop.

The Greyhound (0-1) struggled on offense, particularly in the two-point fourth quarter. Jonah Sautter led Lisbon with 20 points in the losing effort.

Mountain Valley 71, Dirigo 48

RUMFORD — Keegan Davis netted a game-high 24 points to guide Mountain Valley to a 71-48 triumph over Dirigo in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Falcons (1-0) jumped out to a 38-18 halftime lead. Mike Pare furnished another 12 points for Mountain Valley.

The Cougars (0-1) outpaced the Falcons 17-16 in the third quarter. Cooper Chiasson tallied a team-leading 19 points on seven field goals, including a pair of threes, and three free throws in the losing effort.

Gray-NG 53, Lake Region 42

NAPLES — John Martin recorded 23 points to lift Gray-New Gloucester to a 53-42 victory over Lake Region in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

The Patriots (1-0) pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 21-12 run in the frame. Josiah Rottari and Zachery Brady notched eight points apiece for Gray-New Gloucester.

The Lakers (0-1) were paced by Tristen Chaine with a team-leading eight points in the losing effort.
