BLAINE, Minn. — The North Iowa Bulls scored three first-period goals and never looked back, skating to a 5-2 victory over the L/A Nordiques on Sunday in the NA3HL Showcase.

Connor Clemons, Dayton Honkanen and David Dolter each scored for the Bulls in the opening period.

The Nordiques responded in the second period with goals by Colby Audette and Evan Sullivan in the second to cut North Iowa’s lead to 3-2.

But Clemons tallied his second goal of the game later in the frame, and Matt Dahlseide tacked another on in the third for the Bulls.

Nordiques goalie Michael Errico saved 31 of the 35 shots he faced.

For North Iowa, the top team in the NA3HL’s Central Division, Drew Scites stopped 13 of 15 Nordiques shots.

L/A faces the Metro Jets on Monday.
