GREENE — At least two people were hurt Friday night when a car and an SUV collided on Route 202 near the Leeds town line.

The SUV and car collided just after 8 p.m. on Route 202 near Old Lewiston Road. At the time, the roads were slick with ice and slush after late afternoon snow flurries and temperatures that dipped below zero.

A pair of ambulances took victims to Lewiston hospitals. Police briefly blocked a short section of Route 202 to traffic as Greene fire and rescue crews responded. Traffic was rerouted along Old Lewiston Road.

It was not immediately clear how many people were injured in the wreck. The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office was investigating the wreck.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene roughly an hour after the collision.
