LEWISTON — Fedor Lopaev netted hits second goal of the game at the most opportune of times Saturday night, lifting the visiting Northeast Generals to a 3-2 win over the L/A Nordiques in front of 680 fans at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Saturday night.

The Generals’ win comes one day after losing the homestanding Nordiques, 7-2, and makes tight again the top of the division standings. The Nordiques now lead Northeast by two points.

Northeast never trailed Saturday, and got things going early when Lopaev struck for his 16th goal of the season at 10:07 on the power play.

L/A pulled even late in the second, also on the power play, when JP Chauvin beat Generals keeper Lucas Souza on a feed from Shayne Plummer.

The lead lasted about four minutes and spanned an intermission. Northeast again took the lead 59 seconds into the final frame when Jacob Kelly added his 11th of the season to again put the visitors in front by a goal. Plummer then equalized at 9:49 of the third with the Nordiques’ second power-play goal of the night, setting the stage for Lopaev’s heroics.
