SOUTH PARIS — Myrtle Cadenelli, 98, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris.

She was born in Goshen, Conn., daughter of Frank and Jessie (Palmer) Howe. She attended schools in Goshen and Litchfield, Conn. She worked as a housekeeper and floral designer. She enjoyed crafts, bingo, knitting, crocheting, going to auctions and was a champion cribbage player.

Myrtle was a past president of the VFW Auxiliary in Norway and the American Legion Auxiliary in CT and ME. She was instrumental in getting the military flags placed at the Gracelawn Veterans’ Cemetery in Auburn.

She was a facilitator for HOPE in South Paris. She was a 25-plus-year member and past president of the Town & Country Community Center Association, and Member of the Year in 2002.

She is survived by daughter, Mary Lou (Loucks) Melber, and her husband, Frank, of Freeman; son, Robert J. Loucks, and his wife, Judy, of Sharon, Conn. A grandson, Jesse Loucks, his wife, Masha, and great-grandson, Alexander, of Lakeville, Conn. A granddaughter, Elizabeth Loucks, of Martha’s Vineyard, MA., and granddaughter, Denise Loucks Goodman, of OK; and several nieces and nephews in CT and AZ.

She was predeceased by William K. Loucks; and a son, William W. Loucks, both of CT; Joseph Cadenelli, of ME; Lee Cummings, of MA; sisters, Doris Allmand, Alta Palaski, Alma Horvay, Alice Howe; brothers, Walter Howe and Roy Howe, all of CT.
