AUBURN — Police arrested a Massachusetts man early Tuesday in connection with a stabbing the night before on James Street.

Just before midnight Monday, police were called to 9 James St. and found a 40-year-old man had been stabbed three times, according to Deputy Police Chief Jason Moen.

The man was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was treated and released, Moen said.

Police, meanwhile, began looking for 30-year-old Corey Hayden of New Bedford, Mass., who was identified as the suspect. They found him on Pleasant Street, according to Moen.

Hayden was charged with elevated aggravated assault and taken to the Androscoggin County Jail, where he is being held on $10,000 bail. Court records show he has a criminal history in Lewiston, dating to 2013.
