LEWISTON — Police said a local man is charged with dragging a woman behind a vehicle on Pine Street on Wednesday.

Daniel Chamberland, 28, was arrested on a charge of reckless conduct with a motor vehicle.

Police were called to Pine and Horton streets at 8:42 a.m. to investigate the incident. Officers found a 53-year-old woman with bruises and abrasions. She was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to police.

After speaking with witnesses and reviewing surveillance video, police found the suspect vehicle on Bradley Street, which is off Pine Street, and took Chamberland into custody, according to Sgt. James Theiss.

Chamberland was also charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and driving to endanger, both misdemeanors. He had an outstanding arrest warrant for assault.

Police said Chamberland and the woman knew each other.
