LEWISTON — The poetic storytelling of David Moreau complimented by incidental cello music supplied by Greg Boardman will make up this week’s program at the Oasis of Music.

This performance will take place from 12:30 to 1 p.m.Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Trinity Church, 247 Bates St.

Moreau worked in Lewiston for 27 years with people with intellectual and physical disabilities. His book of poems, “You Can Still Go to Hell and Other Truths about Being a Helping Professional,” is Moon Pie Press’s all time best seller. His poetry has been heard nationally three times on “The Writers’ Almanac.”

Moreau  is a performer who uses humor abundantly and seeks to tell stories that are understandable to everyone. This Wednesday, he will focus on family, speaking poems for his mom, dad and children — but he will also probably throw in something about baseball and something about work.

Moreau lives in Wayne where he takes his dog for a walk in the woods nearly every day. He is grateful to have Boardman provide musical interludes and believes that poetry and music is a combination too little used.

Admission to the Oasis of Music is free, with donations accepted.
