PARIS — “Maple Syrup Production for Beginners” will be first in a series of late winter/spring workshops sponsored by Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District.

The workshop is for those who would like to learn what it takes to produce a little maple syrup for family use. Whether tapping a couple of trees or a dozen, this demonstration will help participants get started.

Jim Record of Jim Record and Son Real Maine Maple Syrup will give a hands-on presentation of the basics of identifying trees, tapping trees and making syrup, and what equipment is needed.

The workshop will be held at the Oxford County Extension Office from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, with a follow-up invitation for a guided tour of the Record’s saphouse on Sunday, March 25, during Maine Maple Sunday or whenever the saphouse is in operation during the season.

The $10 per family workshop fee covers demonstration, snacks and written materials. For more information or to register, call 207-744-3119 or email oxfordcountyswcd@gmail.com.
