NEW SHARON — A Harmony woman was jailed Monday after being charged twice with speeding 30 mph over the limit on Mercer Road, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. wrote in a release.

Deputy Brian McCormick stopped a car going 70 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone at 11:01 a.m., according to Nichols. McCormick issued Nichole McCarthy, 27, a summons on a charge of criminal speed and was released at the scene.

During the booking process, prescription drugs not prescribed to her were found, Nichols wrote. She was charged with felony trafficking in prison contraband and misdemeanor unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

McCarthy posted $300 cash bail and was released from jail. She is scheduled to appear in a Farmington court on March 27.
