How much longer are people going to stare gape-jawed as terrorists with legal weapons of monumental destruction gun down children and not stand up and say, enough?

People who love guns more than their children should be forced to watch the video over and over of that classroom under attack by a terrorist with a legal weapon; watch the helpless, unarmed children under fire that 95 percent of Marines will never witness; hear the children scream, wondering if their young lives are over.

Anyone not shaken to the core by that video is beyond redemption.

Those are our children being mowed down. It is not Muslims or Hispanics carrying out those terrorist acts; it has been white males perpetrating the slaughter. Rather than deal with that ugly reality, a loud minority of the population tries to divert attention and scare the public by pointing at imaginary boogeymen — Hispanics and Muslims — crossing the Canadian border unimpeded. We are told those are the bad guys.

And we buy it.

And so, we continue watching children get slaughtered; and we let our schools become prisons. Yet somehow, we have allowed ourselves to be cowed into pretending this is normal.

It is not normal and if we can’t take steps to stop the slaughter of our children, then there is no hope for this country and we deserve our fate.
