LEWISTON — Peter J. Clark, 71, a resident of Leeds, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family Monday evening, Feb. 19, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, following several years of failing health.

He was born Oct. 13, 1946, in Lewiston, the son of Raymond L. Clark and Mary (Olehowski) Clark. Peter was a 1966 graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and received the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. On Aug. 30, 1996, he married Donna Haley Tretola in their garden at their home in Leeds.

Peter worked as a pipefitter/welder for Local Union 190 in Ann Arbor, Mich. Peter attended the Grace Community Church of Auburn. He enjoyed building street rods and was an avid street rod enthusiast. Peter was a builder and built his cabin in Phillips from wood he cut himself, and also built his home in Leeds with his bare hands. Peter was also known for his teasing and cracking jokes with people.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Clark, of Leeds; his sons, Justin Clark and wife, Brandi, of Wales, and Will Clark and companion, Tammy Redmun, of North Turner; his daughter, Shelly Clark, and companion, Eric Hunt, of Leeds; stepsons, Kevin Sturtevant of Worthington, Ohio, and Craig Sturtevant and wife, Ashley, of Leeds; stepdaughters, Wanda Chadbourne and husband, John, of Leeds, Bohnny Weidemann and husband, Scott, of Lancaster, Ohio, and Lori Richardson and husband, Dennis, of Turner; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his siblings, Thomas Clark and wife, Janice, of Auburn, Raymond Clark and wife, Betty, of Lewiston, Robert Clark of Auburn, Pauline Freitas and husband, John, of Auburn, Mary Jane Anderson and husband, Mac, of Indian Harbor Beach, Fla., Janice Felenczak of Clemmons, N.C., and Nancy Clark, also of Clemmons, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; infant daughter, Sara Clark; his sisters, Judy McGrath and Dorothy Treadwell; and his brother, Richard Clark.
