DIXFIELD — Georges “Luc” Morin, 92, longtime resident of the Canton Point Road in Dixfield, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, Feb. 21, following a brief illness.
He was born in Saint-Martin de Beauce, Quebec, Canada, on Nov. 7, 1925, a son of Archelas Morin and Amelia (Roy) Morin.
Luc married Irene Arsenault on Sept. 18, 1954, and together they celebrated 40 years of marriage; she passed away on Dec. 21, 1994.
He was a self-employed logger for most of his life.
Luc loved spending time with his family, taking care of his trout ponds and his vegetable gardens. He also enjoyed square dancing and his nightly visits to McDonald’s.
He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and was a 55-year member of AA.
Luc was inducted into the Logger Hall of Fame in 2014
Surviving are his children, Christine Morin, of Dixfield, Denise Harkness, of Dixfield, and Michelle Bellemare and husband, Leo, of Mt. Vernon; three brothers, Jean Marc Morin of Lac Megantic, Roch Morin of Lac Megantic, and Clovis Morin of Montreal; three grandchildren, Tami Vradenburgh and husband, Ralph, of Dixfield, Michael Virgin and companion, Sally Pendexter, of Porter, and Blaine Virgin and wife, Amber, of Dixfield; great-grandchildren, Chelsey Frank, Dominick Frank, Carolyn Frank, Brike Hallee, Braylee Virgin and Damien Virgin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Irene; and two grandsons, Daniel Virgin and Luc Virgin.
