In November 2017, a significant number of Maine voters supported a referendum to fund Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act.
Too many families are one or two paychecks away from economic ruin if a major illness strikes a member of their household. No one should avoid the doctors’ offices or a hospital due to lack of health insurance. The recent flu epidemic may have been lessened if everyone had access to health care, including the flu vaccine.
It is time the Legislature and the governor listen to the voters and implement the Medicaid expansion.
