Socrates Cafe: Fall of Roman Empire?

BRIDGTON — The Socrates Cafe will meet Monday, March 5, at the Bridgton Community Center.

A meet and greet will be held from 6:15 to 6:30 p.m. Discussion topic will be “Are We Living Through the Latest Version of the Fall of the Roman Empire?” Moderator will be Robert Casimiro. The program will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Western Maine Knitting Guild to meet

PARIS — The Western Maine Knitting Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, at the Haskell House, First Congregational Church. This will be a yarn and knitting supplies swap. There will also be a show and tell segment and a knit and chat. Wear something green for St. Patrick’s Day.

If the Oxford Hills School District cancels schools because of weather conditions, then the guild also cancels its meeting for the month.

Gardening talk at Weld library

WELD — The Weld Free Public Library will host Robin Jordan of Robin’s Flower Pot at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 6.

She will give an overview of her business, the services it provides, what’s new for plants and will answer questions the audience might ask about gardening dilemmas. Photos of blooms at the Flower Pot will serve as a backdrop for her visit.

Refreshments will be served. The library is located at 25 Church St.
