TIM POND TOWNSHIP — A Massachusetts woman was injured Monday after she was thrown from the snowmobile she was driving onto a gravel road in northern Franklin County.

Katelyn Viveiros, 29, of Fall River was driving a 2003 Ski-Doo snowmobile around a plowed corner on a logging road just before noon.

As Viveiros looked back to wave to a group of other snowmobilers she lost control. The snowmobile went up a snowbank for a ways, and her right ski hooked some small trees, Cpl. John MacDonald, spokesman for the Maine Warden Service, wrote in an email Tuesday night.

She then was thrown onto the gravel logging road, and her snowmobile rolled into the woods.

Viveiros was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington for chest injuries by a NorthStar EMS ambulance, he wrote.

The snowmobile was damaged as a result of the crash.

Eustis Fire & Rescue Department and ambulance personnel responded. Other snowmobilers stopped to assist at the scene, located west of Eustis.
