New Auburn Seniors postpone meetings

AUBURN — The New Auburn Seniors have canceled the Monday, March 5, meeting.

Events will resume Monday, March 19, at the Sacred Heart Church when the seniors will have a spaghetti lunch.

Becoming an Outdoors Woman 

BRYANT POND — The Becoming an Outdoors Woman in Maine Spring Mini-Workshop will be held Sunday, May 20, at the Bryant Pond 4-H Camp and Learning Center.

The program provides opportunity for women,  age 18 or older, to gain or improve skills in hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation. The program is sponsored by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and hosted by the University of Maine 4-H Camp and Learning Center at Bryant Pond.

The cost to attend is $85 and includes lunch and all instruction, gear and equipment.

Meeting to gather stormwater information

LEWISTON — A public meeting to assist the Androscoggin Valley Stormwater Working Group in efforts to gauge the effectiveness of the public education and outreach regarding stormwater management.

The meeting will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, in the Jeanne Couture Room, Lewiston Public Library.

There will be questions and refreshments.

‘Preserve It and Serve It’ canning class

PARIS — Stephens Memorial Hospital and Don Packard will host a class on home canning. The class will cover safe home canning and preserving practices. Participants will make and can one food item to take home.

The class will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the South Paris Fire Station, 137 Western Ave. The cost is $5 a person and registration is required.

DIXFIELD — Dirigo Elementary School is taking information on students for their 2018/19 pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes. Those who have a child who turns 4 years old prior to Oct. 15, 2018, and would like to enroll them in the program next year should call the school at 207-562-4207 and be prepared to share the student’s name, birth date, parent/guardian names, mailing address and phone number. Applications will be sent out prior to April break.

Those who have a 5-year-old child to enroll in the kindergarten program next year (and they do not currently attend the pre-kindergarten program) should call the school and leave the child’s name, birth date, parent/guardian names, mailing address and phone number.

Dixfield church to sell chocolate Easter eggs

DIXFIELD — The Dixfield Congregational Church will sponsor an Easter Egg Sale, which includes one homemade half-pound chocolate egg or two quarter-pound chocolate eggs boxed in a special Easter gift box.

Varieties include peanut butter, butter cream, chocolate with nuts, mocha, coconut, all with milk chocolate, and raspberry with dark chocolate. Cost is $6.

Talent wanted for family-friendly town show

MEXICO — The Mexico Bicentennial Committee is planning a Family-Friendly Town Talent Show at 6 p.m. Friday, March 23, at the Meroby Elementary School.

The date was chosen because it was the date of the first town meeting for the newly incorporated Town of Mexico in 1818.

The committee is looking for singers, jugglers, mini-skits, stand-up comics and bands. There is no fee to participate, and admission is free. There are no prizes.

A microphone and a piano will be provided. Other props/costumes will be up to the participants.
